Who we are
Wise Repro is the nucleus of a multitude of bovine artificial reproduction services
Established to provide collaboration across the range of services delivered by the group. The Chairman, Dr Ced Wise is a pioneer of Multiple Ovulation Embryo Transfer (MOET) in Australia in the 1980’s and has continued to expand the assisted reproduction services offered.

Providing bovine reproduction solutions, including donor flushing, embryo transfer, artificial insemination, semen collection, and bull breeding soundness examinations. Our services are provided throughout Australia using custom-built mobile laboratories or at the Glen Aplin, Queensland Reproduction Centre.
Our facility is well known globally for its expertise in bovine semen processing. We offer accredited export services and onsite collection and storage of bovine genetics. We pride ourselves on professional and reliable service, building trusting relationships with our clients.
Established in 1994, Glenisa Angus is owned by Ced Wise and his family. The farm is dedicated to maintaining a high-quality breeding program by taking great care in selecting sires and females, with a focus on producing profitable, low-maintenance cattle. On average, there are 1,100 breeders, including 300 HBR Black Angus and 800 Angus within our commercial and recipient herd.
Wise Breeding Services operates a large recipient herd, offering a comprehensive embryo transfer calf production service. Embryos are implanted into recipient females at Wise Breeding Services, and the calves are returned to the client after weaning.

ROCKY REPRO
Rocky Repro is Queensland’s premier Bovine Reproduction Centre offering a range of in-centre and on-farm bovine reproduction services with our clients representing some of the leading seedstock producers in Australia.
Rocky Repro is an export accredited centre with a staff of 16 professionals supporting the centre’s production, dispatch and marketing operations.
Rocky Repro is located only 15km from Rockhampton the hub of central Qld. The centre’s purpose-built facilities are located in a pleasant semi-rural lifestyle environment.
We currently have a full-time position available for a Lab Technician officer at our Alton Downs
THE ROLE
We are seeking a well organised person with superior attention to detail to join our team at Alton Downs as a Production Laboratory Technician. This is an exciting busy role that will suit a process driven person whilst ensuring the highest quality standards are adhered to.
Ideally suited to a who enjoys communicating with people and ensuring tasks are completed with a high level of accuracy. Knowledge of the cattle industry and/or bovine artificial breeding practices would be an advantage but is not essential.
THE LABORATORY
The primary responsibilities of the production laboratory are:
- All aspects of processing semen and maintaining the Lab. Including preparation of extenders, assessment of motility, density, extension, straw printing and filling, freezing, post-thaw testing and analysis, washing/sterilising lab-ware and collection equipment.
- Ensuring collection records are accurately followed and recorded.
- Post thaw analysis and testing.
- Pack and store the collections, with diligent attention to recording locations.
- Testing third-party frozen semen and preparing reports.
- Liaising with the collection and dispatch teams.
- Ensuring the lab and wash up room are always adequately stocked with all consumables.
- Ensuring the lab, wash-up room and cool room are always clean and tidy.
- Working in the cool room (5c)
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor of Biology or Equivalent (preferred)
- Good working knowledge of MS Office and common IT systems.
- Experience working within Biological Laboratory or vet/medical background an advantage.
- Knowledge of the beef cattle industry and/or bovine artificial reproduction would be an advantage.

- The ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness.
- Work precisely to set production protocols.
- Ability to work irregular hours during peak periods is required.
- Enjoy working in a process driven lab environment
